That Relationship was my toothpaste.

Recently started talking to someone again that meant a great deal to me, but timing and location set us apart and our relationship never happened. This is one of those times you wish you knew then, what you know now. Six years and somehow not a moment passed in my head that I knew I missed something. It's like leaving the house to go on a trip and even though you double checked everything, you walk out the door and you just know, you just know you forgot something. That relationship was my toothpaste. The thing I left behind, the thing I needed everyday and should never be forgotten. I left it behind, time passed and it got replaced like so many other things in my life. How would things be different if I just remembered to bring my toothpaste on this trip called life.

Automation in Death

I think automated systems are wasting our lives, one phone call at a time. I really think that when we die there will be an automated message for us to go through. This is the idea I came up with while at work today.

Hello and welcome to Death, some of our menu options have changed so please listen to each listing before making your selection.

Press 1 for heaven
Press 2 for hell
Press 3 for atheist
Press 4 for reincarnation
Press 5 to back away from the light

At anytime you can press 0 to hear the options again, if you choose to end this call without making a selection you will be placed on hold for eternity and please enjoy the music while you wait.

For the Love of Food

I find the biggest downside of being on my diet is not being able to cook what I want. I do/did cook quite a bit, I make stuff from scratch like bbq sauce when most people buy a bottle. My roommates often say, that's a lot of work after I spend an hour or two in the kitchen. I guess I enjoy it to much to think its work and that's usually a good sign, if only my job was like that. Here's a few things that I have made, some are basic recipes that I found and made my own and others are just things that are just damn tasty.

Burger & Fries simple yet fantastic
Fries take awhile, you gotta cut, fry, batter, fry again and the burger is combo of sirloin and chuck mixed with spices and onions and grilled to perfection.

Enchilada with Rice
Shredded Chicken with Green Chilies the Mexican Rice with a hint of lime.

Bowtie Pasta with Chicken and Mushrooms
Simple Lemon Butter Sauce, Chives and Red Pepper flakes for some kick

Shrimp Scampi and Garlic Bread and Fresh Mozzarella
No need to explian but if you never roasted a whole garlic bulb your missing out.

T-bone and Garlic & Rosemary Potatoes
Perfect Grilled Steak and yummy potatoes

Don't Forget Breakfast!

Pizza from scratch
I make the dough and top it with goodness, sausage mushroom peppers onion pepperoni cheese and sauce

Old peoples Output

I guess what i take as common knowledge is lost on a lot of people. I mean the idea that hooking up a cable box to a tv is a well kept secret from most semi educated people makes me laugh. I spend most of my days telling people that a cable comes from a wall, plugs into the IN on the box and then a cable comes from an OUT on the box to the IN on the tv is humorous. Cable has been around for awhile so you would think that anybody that has a 2nd grade education understands this, but alas this is not the case. Then what really makes me laugh is when people say its my fault that their tv doesnt work when the tv is not on channel 3 or a wrong input. Word to the wise, what ever someone from tech support ask you to do something, do it. You are calling them, they are getting paid to help you. Otherwise they might just start asking you to do crazy things for no reason while they play games on excel.

Fat Begone!

I went to Arizona at the end of Jan to visit my dad and step mom and came to a realization that I have gained a little weight. It kinda sneaks up on ya, a bit here a bit there and then all of a sudden you sweat taking a shower.
Ok, that a bit of a stretch, but I had my reasons for letting myself get to that point. 2009, or I like to consider it the year of F*ck. The whole year just was wrong for me on every level, I had my grandfather and aunt die. My cat of 10 1/2 yrs got sick and died, my live in girlfriend and I of 3+yrs broke up and I lost my job. That was a 3month time frame and a total emotional mind screw.
Well, no more I say, no more of eating to forget, eating to remember. I hit a unhealthy weight of 227lbs for me and it took a pic I took of me and my dad in Arizona to figure it out. Upside of always taking the pictures is you are never in them and so oblivious to the fact you look like you ate yourself.
So, since I got back in Jan I have changed my diet of fast food, soda and snacking to healthier choices and trips to the gym. I am now down to 207lbs and working at my goal of 190. I havent had a soda in 3months, I have eaten more rice then a normal white guy should consume and I can actually see muscle instead of flab when I wave my arm goodbye to the fat.
I am not trying to inspire, but if I can go from 4sodas atleast a day to none, fast food as a primary food source to none then anyone can, you just have to have the motivation. What will yours be?

PHOTOZ!

I got my new camera last week and itching to take some new photos, but with the weather taking a dump and forgetting to flush, I have been unable too. Saturday, if all goes well I get to take some photos of a friend and her daughter. I upgraded to the new D300s (pic below) from Nikon and a 85mm lens that is sure to wow anyone.

Im air punching the clouds away and lets cross our fingers for Saturday. The lens I bought can make anything look cool, a simple shot of my shoe for instance.

The control of the blur and focus really amazes me, kinda like nipples on men. I guess it would look weird if we didn't, have you seen a ken doll without a shirt? Weird.....

Oscars? no......

Movies....

Well, I watch alot of them. I don't care the genre, it could be good, bad or just a little weird. I saw some great films last year that a lot of people may not of even heard of. So, I thought why not make a list of my top movies last year that you may not of heard of.

Brothers Bloom - Great character driven story with some well known names.

Bottle Shock - Based on a true story of California Wine

Killing Room - Awesome cast with a interesting twist

One Week - What would you do if you found out you might die?

Numb - Matthew Perry gets serious and makes you feel

Music Within - The start of the American's with Disabilities Act

I could write a blog about each one of these movies by themselves, but that would ruin the movies for people who haven't seen them. I implore you to take a look, watch them and let me know what you think.

Cool Kid

I have never been the "cool" kid, just a pretty normal guy exterior with a crazy mind and humor as a side-dish.

One of my weaknessessessess in life is watching TV talent shows, not just in America, but across the world. So, for some of you who miss out on some great things here's a few I have chosen for you to enjoy.

First is Australian Idol from this year, Stan Walker (yes he end up winning) and I encourage you to check out some of his other videos from the season.

Next will come from X-factor UK (coming soon to US btw) an audition by Jamie Archer

Next from Australia again, but this time Australia's Got Talent with Smokin Joe

Here's a great rendition of Bridge over Troubled Water from Xfactor Denmark

Back to UK X-factor with Diana Vickers and SMILE

Here's a little girl from Britain's Got Talent named Natalie

Australian Idol 2 years ago, Matt Corby and the Blower's Daughter

Canadian Idol with a knock out Mitch Macdonald and I Love This Town

Last one for now with Greg Neufeld and the best Queen tribute song.

Greg Neufeld - We Are The Champions
Uploaded by regneu.

So, that's not close to all the wonderful performance you can find out there, but I got time on my hands to browse.

Day 11,642

So, with any first post one might want to set some ground rules. Well, I have no rules. There, got that first post out of the way....

Kidding aside, I have an awkward sense of humor, a little quirky for some and offensive to others. I don't shoot to please, I am only here to make myself laugh and your chuckles are just a bonus if they happen.

I will be talking about what ever comes to mind, movies (i watch alot), cooking (i cook alot) and what ever random thoughts I have in a day. For instance I thought about moving to the North Pole just so I could look down on everyone and to boost my ego. I have a fondness for photography (will post pix) and a love of sleeping (will not post pix).

I say stick around, check back and you might learn something that you hope to forget.
